Struik Glutton Potato Haulm Topper
The Struik ‘Glutton’ potato haulm topper is the latest model that Struik provides, and it was developed with one purpose; to kill potato haulm!
Haulm topping is extremely important for helping to prevent infections and viral diseases in potato plants. It also reduces the use of chemical sprays which are becoming more and more difficult to use due to increasing regulations.
The Struik Glutton potato haulm topper is available in various configurations so that it can go from 2 rows up to 8 rows. The toppers can be rear or front mounted, but normally the biggest topper to be front mounted is a 2 row topper.
Struik Glutton Potato Haulm Topper Features
All of Struik’s potato haulm toppers come as standard with specially shaped flails which follow the contour of the potato ridge accurately.
Combined with the modern shape of the Struik Glutton potato haulm topper, this provides excellent suction power and improved flailing. The toppers also come with hardened flails which provide durability so that the flails do not need to be changed as often, reducing downtime and more importantly costs.
The toppers also come with rubber depth control wheels. These can be manually adjusted or as an option the topper can come with optional hydraulic adjustment. The depth control can be adjusted depending on the preferred topping depth.
The Struik potato haulm topper can also come with an option of ‘Smart Clean’ haulm guides (these can be made of steel or stainless steel) so that all of the haulm is directed into the wheelings (ridges) rather than it covering the potato beds. This makes for accurate topping and increases harvesting capacity.
The rear mounted toppers can also come with optional low pressure tyres which sit on top of the potato beds. This prevents green potatoes, and it also means that viral diseases that are damaging to the crop do not spread.
The toppers come as standard with large inspection hatches which make for easy and simple cleaning. This again makes it easier to prevent the spread of any viral diseases. The topper can also be hydraulically foldable as an option. This makes for easier transportation of the machine.
The 2 and 4 row front mounted potato toppers also come with the option of a high capacity haulm discharge belt. This minimises blockages inside the topper and ensures that all the haulm is directed away from the beds and into the wheelings (ridges).
